Thank you to Mrs. Pat O'Brien and the 2nd grade team for putting this joyful farewell ceremony together, and most especially to Mr. Murphy for 31 years of service.
A few quotes from the presentation (paraphrased)...
From Principal O’Brien: “Mr. Murphy has shown up each day
for the past 31 years ready to help kids. In all those years, I have never
heard him say an unkind word about any child, and each child he has worked so
hard to help. Students, your job is to work hard, and as teachers, our job is
to to what Mr. Murphy has done for so many years – help you be happy and to succeed."
From Mr. Murphy: “I see the middle-schoolers in the back
row, and I taught them. I see the teachers standing here, and many of you I
taught as well. Over the years, my students have come back to visit. They’ve
become doctors, waitresses, or engineers. But the hardest job any of us have to
do is to be parents. When you grow up, and if you become parents, I hope you
will work hard at the job – love your kids, hug them, and support them always."
The lyrics: "Thanks to you Mr. Murphy, You're about to retire. Teacher, and friend and a leader too, Oh, whatever will the Argenziano do without you? We say thanks for all of your hard work, Enjoy the new things that you'll do, You're the M, V, P, Mr. Murph, so it's hats off to you!"
