The Citywide Connections newsletter reported that Saragrace Magre was awarded an important college scholarship. Ms. Lamer said about her former student: "I'm so proud!!!!" Saragrace has a brother and sister who are currently students at the Argenziano.
Three SHS Seniors Earn Posse Scholarship Awards
Graduating Somerville High School seniors Catherine Nakato, Saragrace Magre,
and Connie Chan celebrated with fellow Posse Foundation Scholarship award
winners throughout the Commonwealth last week at the Posse Scholarship Awards
Ceremony held at the Copley Hotel in Boston. Posse is a four year, full-tuition
scholarship program. Posse Boston partners with six colleges/universities -
Union College, Bucknell University, Denison University, Bryn Mawr College,
Centre College, & Hamilton College.
Students selected for Posse scholarship awards have
demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities and a strong motivation to
succeed. Catherine Nakato and Saragrace Magre have committed to attend Union
College. Connie Chan has committed to Bryn Mawr College as part of the STEM
Posse program for students going on to STEM careers. U.S. Attorney for the
District of Massachusetts, Carmen Ortiz spoke at the event as well as Boston
Mayor Marty Walsh. Each of the six Posse Boston partner colleges sent
representatives to award full-tuition scholarships to 60 students from the
Boston area.
